This round tour encloses the vast territory of the Altenhoefe hill where the western part of Heidetraenk-Oppidum is located. Most of the walls, as in the eastern part of the Goldgrube (Goldmine), have been built as a dry mortarless construction. Vertical posts on the inner and outer sides as well as connecting horizontal bars kept the wall fronts together. In contrast to the Goldmine, where most parts of the filling has been composed of mostly soil with only a few rocks, the engineers used only rocks for the fillings of the walls. This is why even today leftover ramparts can still be seen at many places of Altenhoefe. Findings date the use of the place back to the so-called „Spaetlatènezeit“ (2. - 1 Century B.C.). An even earlier settlement can be documented by findings of the Hallstatt Culture (800-475 B.C.).
Wanderparkplatz Hohemark: to the right in Alfred-Lechler-Strasse up to the sign „hospital Hohemark“ marked by a “white bar”. Outside the hospital: to the right in Friedlaender Straße, marked by a “blue bar”. Up to the Emminghaus-Huette (the guarding hut) - already up for a small break? Emminghaushuette: Follow “blue bar“ up to the cross way in about 300 meters. Cross way: Follow the sign to the right „green bar“ to the “white wall”. Below “white wall” follow the sign „yellow bar“.
On the hill “Altenhoefe” a path is leading down through the Heidetraenk valley. On the right is “Werksgraben” - the trenches of the former textile factory Hohemark proceed to the starting point marked “yellow bar”.
