The "historical round route" takes you along picturesque corners and buildings of the old town. Much attention has been paid to the details, and a considerable financial support was provided to restore a large amount of buildings that have been threatened to deterioate from the 70s on. After extensive restoration, today the old town creates a very special atmosphere; next to modern residences you find cosy restaurants, shops and various cultural events.
Oberursel is called "the town of fountains": Every year, a fountain queen is elected and the “Brunnenfest” (Fountain Festival) , which takes place on the weekend after Whitsuntide, is one of the most widely celebrated events during the whole year.
